The international jazz festival in Bansko will once again draw together artists from several continents. The playbill of one of the biggest summer music festivals in this country features twenty concerts and a rich accompanying program.
The six festival nights (from 8 to 13 August) will feature musicians from fifteen countries. Among them are the USA, Brazil, France, Germany, Israel, Austria, Bulgaria and others. Among the names that Bulgarian audience knows are British jive and swing group "Jive Aces" (August 11), known for their attractive stage presence. A few years ago they were in the country for their participation in the same festival. For the second time Bansko will welcome Candy Dulfer (13 August). "The Queen of the saxophone" as she is called will be arriving from Japan, where she gave several successful concerts and earned many new fans. Among the most notable names in the program is the Brazilian pianist and singer Tania Maria (12 August) - one of the legends of modern jazz. We will also hear singers China Moses (9 August) Iyoka (11 August), Rossella Graziani and "Dolce Vita" (August 10) and Hubert Tubbs (13 August) - former lead singer of the famous group "Tower Of Power", Vasil Petrov and the Big Band of Blagoevgrad (9 August).
For the first time a competition for young jazz singers will be organized. After the selection made by the jury, the best among them will have the opportunity to sing on the big stage. They will be on stage with Stefka Onikyan - jazz singer and lecturer at the National Music Academy.
The event opens with a special program of Kamelia Todorova and Brass Association (8 August). On the first evening is the gig of Magnetic band and young American singer JeSante. Also, the 50th anniversary of Sofia orchestra will be marked with a concert of some of the musicians who played in the group over the years. Special guest is Yordanka Hristova. The accompanying program includes the film of director Rosen Elezov "Sofia Orchestra". There will be exhibitions, lectures, and gigs at other venues in the town.
