Teachers’ salaries expected to increase by 10% at the beginning of 2017

The teachers’ salaries are expected to see 10% increase at the beginning of 2017, Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Education and Science Meglena Kuneva said at the National Teacher’s Council on Sunday. Bulgaria’s Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov assured Minister Kuneva that education will be a priority in 2017 state budget. The Ministry of Education and Science will work towards making the average teachers’ salary above the average wage in Bulgaria, which according to data of the National Statistical Institute amounts to EUR 407 per month.
