Bulgaria UN top job contender braces for decisive Security Council vote due soon

Hours remain until the vote that will make clear whether Irina Bokova will continue to be Bulgaria’s contender for United Nations Secretary General. The UN Security Council will carry out one more, fifth selection from among the candidates for the top UN job. During the latest vote two weeks ago Irina Bokova ranked fifth, after she had placed third in the previous vote. Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov vowed that the government would do its best to see Bokova among the first two. He however made clear that after the upcoming vote the government would revise its position.
