The profit of the Bulgarian banking system exceeded EUR 500 million, data of the Bulgarian National Bank for August show. In August 2016 the results of the stress tests of the country’s banking system were announced. The profit of the Bulgarian commercial banks in the first 8 months of 2016 is EUR 150 million higher than the one registered in the same period last year, BNB summarizes. This was mainly due to the fact that less money was spent on impairment of loans. The capital adequacy and liquidity remain at a very high level. BNB also announced that the credit portfolio increased insignificantly. Bank deposits have continued to grow despite the low interest rates.
