Famous musician Valeri Dimchev is a recognized tambura virtuoso, composer and music arranger. He is renowned for his modern touch and versions of folklore pieces. His professional approach changes the attitude towards the technical capabilities of the ancient instrument and his interesting ideas attract the attention. He knows the original style of the Pirin tambura /mandolin/, but he penetrates unknown sound environment via his artistic work. Valeri used to play with different formations as early as his student years with Plovidv’s Music Academy and his initial composition tries occurred at that time. When he returned to his birthplace – the town of Blagoevgrad, he worked as a music teacher, an editor at the Radio & TV Center and also established the Valeri Dimchev trio which combined the timbres of the tambura and guitar. He often had concerts in Europe due to different music projects. Valeri Dimchev is also a tutor at the South-West University “Neofit Rilski” in Blagoevgrad.

Valeri Dimchev has recently recorded his tambura and piano project.

“It was a challenge for me to create music for piano and tambura, I had composed for keyboard, for folk orchestra, for small bands and solo vocals, but I decided to combine solo tambura with piano. When one gets older there comes a time when it’s good to pass on to the others what you have achieved. I decided to publish the scores for those who would like to play in a duet of that kind. The project is named Tambura Music and is accompanied by a CD. The plays were recorded with pianist Milena Tomanova. Nedyalko Nedyalkov – shepherd’s flute and Ventsislav Blagoev – trumpet, take part in some of them. I also compose soundtracks for documentaries which I have found to be very interesting and some of my time has been devoted to this occupation over the past couple of years.”
