Over 6,000 domestic pigs were killed in the recent years worldwide due to the African swine fever. In Bulgaria a total of 203,000 pigs were killed due to this disease, Bulgaria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva said in Berlin. Minister Taneva attends the world’s biggest fair for food, agriculture and horticulture Green Week Berlin 2020. So far Bulgaria paid nearly EUR 36 million for compensation and prevention against African swine fever and expects co-financing from the European Commission. We have received EU funding to the tune of EUR 13 million and we are yet to receive nearly EUR 10 million, Minister Desislava Taneva pointed out. Within the frameworks of Green Week Berlin 2020 Minister Taneva participates with her own report at a high-level conference dedicated to African swine fever.
