Washington: We have reliable information about Judge Andon Mitalov

The U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has reliable information that Andon Mitalov participated directly or indirectly in significant corruption in the capacity of a Specialized Criminal Court Judge. This corruption undermines the rule of law and compromises the democratic institutions in Bulgaria. This was the answer of the US Department of State to questions of Sega newspaper regarding the recent entry ban imposed by the U.S Secretary of State against the Bulgarian Judge Mitalov and his family.  The U.S. Department of State does not give specific answer to the question of Sega daily when corruption took place, what type of corrupt activities Mitalov was involved in and where the signal against Mitalov came from. In November last year, Judge Mitalov issued a permit to the leader of the Russophiles Movement Nikolai Malinov to travel to Moscow and receive the Order of Friendship by President Vladimir Putin, although Malinov was charged with espionage.
