Bulgaria, US discuss the future of coal-fired power plants

In the framework of the Strategic Dialogue between Bulgaria and the US, Bulgaria's Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova held talks today with officials from the US Department of Energy. They discussed the preservation of the capacity of the coal-fired power plants in Bulgaria by using the experience and technology from the USA. Thermal power plants (TPPs) produce over 46% of the country's electricity. They have significant costs for purchasing harmful missions, which affects the price of the electricity generated. The two sides have united on the possibility of cooperation in order to preserve the operation of thermal power plants in Bulgaria.
