Nationwide protests against government and Prosecutor General held in Bulgaria

Thousands of protesters flooded the central part of Bulgaria’s capital Sofia on Sunday evening to demand the resignation of this country’s cabinet and the resignation of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. Protesters shouted “Mafia” and “Resignation” Protests were also held in other big cities- Varna, Plovdiv, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Blagoevgrad, Pleven, Gabrovo and Kyustendil. The protesters demanded changes in the governance model and a better future for their children. The demonstration held in front of the Council of Ministers building downtown Sofia ended shortly after 11 pm. According to data of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, no serious breaches of public order have been reported.
