Bulgaria has always supported the sovereignty of North Macedonia, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva said at a press conference in Sofia with her North Macedonian counterpart Bujar Osmani. We have never had territorial claims and we have not denied our neighbours the right to self-identification. It is now necessary for North Macedonia to recognize the historical realities, Zaharieva said.

Bulgaria wants nothing more than to comply with the provisions of the good neighbourliness agreement. This is the language clause in the contract and we want it to be reflected in all the documents between us. We have no new claims. I appeal and I hope that suggestions and problems are not created where there are none, Zaharieva added, BGNES reports.
