Commenting on the forthcoming handing of the third mandate for the formation of a government, Nikolai Denkov from We Continue the Changesaid, for the BNR, that his party was prepared to support Democratic Bulgaria.

“Whoever may get the third mandate, we are prepared to enter into discussion on policies,” he said, but added that everything depended on whether the approach of the mandate-holder to the formation of a cabinet can benefit Bulgaria.

Desislava Atanasova
“If the President hands the third mandate to the Bulgarian Socialist Party, it looks as if it will be doomed,” said, on her part Desislava Atanasova, chairperson of GERB’s parliamentary group, in an interview with the BNR. Her party would be prepared to hold talks on support if the mandate is handed to Democratic Bulgaria because both parties are “from the same European political family”, she said. However, Democratic Bulgaria needs to give a clear evaluation of the government of We Continue the Change, of the scandals surrounding the closure of Maritsa Iztok thermal power plants, the 30% more expensive Russian gas received via intermediaries during the time of We Continue the Change etc. Desislava Atanasova stressed that without the support of the leading political forces in the 48th National Assembly – GERB-SDS and We Continue the Change, the mandate for forming a cabinet cannot be implemented.
