Photo exhibition dedicated to great Bulgarian actor Petar Slabakov

On January 5, a photo exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of beloved Bulgarian actor Petar Slabakov (23.04.1923 - 17.05.2009) opens in the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia. The exhibition was organised on the idea of the actor's son, director Andrey Slabakov, and was carried out with the support of the Bulgarian National Film Archive, the Bulgarian Visual Archive, the National Film Center, etc.

Born in Lyaskovets, Petar Slabakov graduated from Industrial Economics in Varna, but his desire to become an actor prevailed. He started working as an extra and after an exam he became an actor in the Varna Drama Theater, the Archive Fund of the BNR shows. He debuted in cinema at the age of 37 in the film "House on Two Streets" directed by Kiril Ilinchev. Over the years, he shot dozens of films with famous Bulgarian directors such as Zahari Zhandov, Valo Radev, Ivan Nichev, Ivan Andonov, etc. In addition to his roles, he remains in the memory of Bulgarians for his rebelliousness and active civic position.
