Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Angelieva appointed Ambassador to Hungary

Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev has issued a decree appointing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Angelieva as Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Hungary. The decree was promulgated in State Gazette on Tuesday, reported BTA. Maria Angelieva graduated from Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski and worked as an attorney until 2001. Until 2009, she served as a member of parliament and was Deputy Chair of the National Assembly Committee for European affairs.

From 2014 to 2020, she was Minister Plenipotentiary, Head of the Consular Service at the Bulgarian Embassy in London. From 2020 to 2024, she served as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Department of Trade and Economic Affairs at the Bulgarian Embassy in London. In 2024, she was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Dimitar Glavchev’s first caretaker cabinet.
