Ex-PM Boyko Borisov: Bulgaria will receive a derogation for Lukoil

GERB leader Boyko Borisov has assured that Bulgaria will receive an exception from the US sanctions against Russian oil and gas, BNR reporter Violeta Ashikova reported.

“I can guarantee to Bulgarians that Bulgaria will receive a derogation. The USA is our partner, we are a reliable partner in NATO and in general in relations with the States, OFAC welcomed us for what we have done. I think that today, when the veto is overcome next Monday-Tuesday, we will already have a solution so that people can calm down,” the MP told journalists on the sidelines of the National Assembly.

It was not clear from the GERB leader’s words what period of derogation will be achieved. He admitted that Russia may file a lawsuit because of Lukoil, specifying that the actions were not dictated by Bulgaria, but a consequence of the sanctions of the United States.
