On April 9, Jazz singer Miroslava Katsarova is to present in Sofia Live Club her latest project entitled Cinema. It is inspired and entirely dedicated to the seventh art-the cinema. The charming singer, together with Veselin Veselinov-Eko (bass), Hristo Yotsov (drums) and Miroslav Turiyski (piano) will make a music reference to films such as A Man And A Woman, Talk to Her, Black Orpheus, Brazil, Buena Vista Social Club, etc. The above-mentioned movies created and changed several generations of music fans.
“I was extremely excited with this project. It is a personal choice of movies which have influenced my live the most. Films created by favorite directors such as Wim Wenders are among them. One of the movies entitled Wings of Desire is filled with provocations and deep sense. I have chosen Wenders, because he created a number of music movies. I used some themes from these movies and, together with some colleagues, paraphrased them in a vocal form. I wrote most of the texts. However, Elin Rahnev wrote one especially for the program. It is linked with a theme of Giuzeppe Tornatore’s film Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, which are also among my favorite directors and movies. The music to this film is very beautiful. It was written by Ennio Morricone as a symphonic piece. We took a fragment of the theme and turned it into a song later. Our bass player Veselin Veselinov-Eko also contributed to this song a lot. As a result, we created various music versions which were inspired by the original piece. To me, music is like an invisible and imaginary album. My main goal is to share the selected movies in a proper manner. Thus, the audience shares our personal feelings and emotions."
