Hilda Kazasyan stepped on the Bulgarian jazz stage in the mid 1990’s. She graduated from the Classical department of the Musical Academy in Sofia, majoring in percussions and later she started singing as well. She is a daughter of Vili Kazasyan, a renowned conductor of the Bulgarian National Radio Big Band. Hilda Kazasyan proved as a performer of a very rich music culture. She released several albums and her music style is very close to the Brazilian samba. Hilda Kazasyan plays the music to some emblematic Bulgarian movies. Theatre also played an important role in her life. Hilda proves her love toward theatre in the forthcoming music tour, too. In an interview with RB the Bulgarian jazz musician talks about this event in details.
“I am looking forward to this tour with a great deal of excitement-says Hilda Kazasyan. I have been thinking over the idea over the past two years and decided that now is the perfect moment to fulfill this project. The tour includes seven Bulgarian cities-Ruse (May 9), Burgas (May 10), Varna (May 15), Veliko Tarnovo (May 16), Stara Zagora (May 23), Plovdiv (May 24) and Sofia, where I will perform on May 29. I have selected only theatre halls for my concerts, as they are suitable for our stage performances. I will sing again alongside great musicians such as Hristo Yotsov (drums) Zhivko Petrov (piano), Mihail Yosifov (trumpet). I recorded with them my last album Jazz&Me which I am about to present at this year’s tour. The Bulgarian audience will also hear songs of my project linked with Bulgarian film music which was released some time ago. As a whole, I will be performing pieces from the last ten years or so. People can enjoy a bright and stylish programme at the tour. Recently I made a new song entitled Crazy Butterflies to the lyrics of Dobromir Slavchev. The piece was meant for a theatre play, but since such a play was not released yet, I decided to record the song. There is also a video to the piece. So, Crazy Butterflies will also enter the program of my tour. Of course, I will also perform other pieces to the music of Hristo Yotsov. This will be part of the surprises at this spring’s tour.”
