Austria alarms over million migrants might try to cross Bulgarian border

Following the closing of the Balkan route for migrants and the agreement reached between the European Union and Turkey, there was a danger of 1.1 million people trying to cross the Bulgarian border, Austrian Minister of the Interior Johanna Mikl-Leitner has warned. The Austrian minister called for closing of the so-called eastern Balkan route because there have already been signs of increased movement through Bulgaria after closing of the Macedonian-Greek border for migrants. Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner Leitner is sceptical about the agreement between the EU and Turkey and believes that it would not solve the problem. According to her, protection of the Austrian border should continue.
