Bulgaria tightens control over foreigners

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published a proposal for amendments to the Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria Act, which would seriously limit the long-term access of citizens of countries outside the EU to Bulgaria. The draft  bill also plans for the creation of so-called "hotspots" for migrants who would be returned to their country of origin or the country from which they entered Bulgaria. Control over members of the families of foreign diplomats will also be tightened. Criteria for granting long-term residence for businessmen and entrepreneurs who have opened jobs in this country will also become stricter, it was reported.
