In view of the complicated security environment and the increasing tension within the context of the migration crisis and terrorist acts in the heart of Europe, the modernization of the Bulgarian army and the higher defensive capabilities are of key importance, Bulgaria’s President and Commander in-chief of the Bulgarian Armed Forces Rossen Plevneliev said at a ceremony where army officers were promoted to higher military ranks. President Plevneliev pointed out that the world lives in the most-difficult and unpredictable security environment since the end of WW2. In this transitional period of instability we must strengthen our positions in the EU and NATO and speed up the integration and compatibility process. This is the only way to guarantee our national interest and the security of our citizens, President Rossen Plevneliev added.
