On May 21, more than 3,000 museums in 30 countries from Europe will participate in the European Night of Museums, as they turn the evening into a place for expression of all arts: music, theater, literature, art and cinema.

Having initially started as an initiative of the Ministry of Culture of France, within just a few years the cultural event spread throughout Europe. Bulgarian museums and galleries joined the first edition and this year will mark the 12th European Night of Museums.

Nearly 50 museums, galleries and cultural institutes in Sofia will open their doors to welcome visitors with free admission in the European Night of Museums. Many events are also organized in the cities of Plovdiv, Varna, Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Lovech, Smolyan, and others.
