Interior Minister Bachvarova: Number of refugees 30 percent down compared to same period of last year

“The number of refugees entering Bulgarian territory is down by almost 30 percent compared to the same period of last year,” said Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova in a televised interview.
In her words this is due to several factors - the global processes which have been re-channeling migration and the fact that many of the migrants are detained on the territory of Turkey, as well as the efforts this country has been making to put up a fence along the border. Rumyana Bachvarova added one more factor – that most of the migrants detained are registered. Minister Bachvarova reiterated that there was no direct threat of a terrorist attack in Bulgaria.
