Bulgaria and Romania in negotiations with Canada over visa regime

Bulgaria and Romania have opened visa waiver negotiations with Canada in Brussels with the mediation of the European Commission.

Sofia and Bucharest warned that they would not ratify the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada unless their citizens were allowed to travel to Canada without a visa, as do all other European citizens. However, the European Commission says it does not want the problem to be conditional on the trade agreement it negotiated with Canada.
