At the beginning of his US visit, Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov discussed, with US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, the construction of gas interconnectors between Bulgaria and its neighbours, with a focus on the interconnector with Greece, as well as Bulgaria’s plans to take part in the construction of a LNG terminal near Alexandroupolis. Minister Mitov expounded on the government’s measures aimed at the liberalization of the energy market and the plans to build a gas hub in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian foreign minister also met with the United States Trade Representative Michael Froman. The two discussed ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation and stated they expected the negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the EU and USA to be completed soon.
