Today marks Holy Cross Christian Feast

On 14 September, Christians celebrate the Feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross traditionally called Krastovden in Bulgaria. In connection with the feast, the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte served a water-blessing mass at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and prayed for the successful start of the new school year that opens tomorrow. In popular Christianity the feast is linked to the end of the summer and the start of the autumn farming season. In some regions of the country it is called Grozdobernik as it also gives the start to grape picking.
