“What people in Europe expect from politicians is to act decisively, to solve and not to deepen the problems,” said President Rosen Plevneliev at the opening of the 12th Arraiolos Group Meeting in Plovdiv.

The presidents of Italy, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Hungary, Germany and Finland of the Arraiolos Group are in Bulgaria for a two-day meeting focusing on the future of united Europe and the Balkans and the challenges posed by the migrant crisis.
“The migration crisis has brought new division lines, while the dependence on Europe’s gate keepers such as Turkey, Egypt, Libya and others will only be growing… There is a rise of populist and Eurosceptical parties and as a result an inability to solve crisis in a sustainable manner,” President Plevneliev cautioned and added that at a time when nationalist parties feed people’s fears and hate, racism, xenophobia, populism and aggressive nationalism are on the rise it is absolutely essential to demonstrate the strength of our values and unity.
