Bulgaria is to receive within few days the first tranche of the financial assistance agreed with the European Union to the tune of EUR 108 million. The sum will help that country boost protection of the EU external border, representatives of the European Commission told the Bulgarian National Radio. On Thursday the EC will discuss Bulgaria’s request to receive an extra EUR 52 million for that purpose. At a meeting in Bratislava the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker promised Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov that his country would receive an urgent financial assistance from the EU.
