Do you have to answer sometimes questions about the languages you use or study? Sometimes you hear questions such as where did you study, what motivated you to study languages, were you forced to speak a given language or you wanted to learn that language yourself. Many questions can be asked about language studies. Knowing a foreign language is a real fortune. Bulgaria, just like other European countries, marks the European Day of Languages. Bulgarian is one out of all 225 local languages spoken in Europe. It is interesting to note that those languages are only 3% of all languages used worldwide. When it comes to choosing what language to study, most people say that English nowadays is mandatory and a second language gives people priority when they start searching for a new job, and people who know three or more languages are far ahead others when looking for a job. Bulgarians mainly study English, French, German and Spanish. However, those who wish to broaden their cultural scope often study less-popular languages such as Romanian, Polish or Albanian.

Currently we live in a new world, which has changed due to the rapid development of modern technologies. People need to communicate more and now it is easier than ever to find various instruments of communication. Communication play a vital role in the lives of the young people and boost their interest towards foreign languages. Communication must be in the core of language studies - this is the main principle of the world-famous center for language assessment Cambridge English. The center analyses carefully the new challenges mankind is now facing and notes that the real potential of the mobile technologies would be unveiled through people who are trained to communicate well.

People in Bulgaria and abroad wish to obtain a language certificate from Cambridge English for various reasons. Some of them want to receive higher marks or assessment, because they need that certificate at work or at the university. Some parents want to motivate their children to study the language in details. However, there are people who do language tests just for fun, Steve Mc Kenna, Assistant Director Communications at Cambridge English Language Assessment (part of the University of Cambridge), told Radio Bulgaria.

We had to use a special software program which reads the most common mistakes made by people from each nationality during their English language studies, Steve Mc Kenna further said.
