Migration pressure at Bulgarian borders grows

The Bulgarian Ministry of Interior has reported that migration pressure on Bulgaria has been growing. Last week, there were 734 new foreign citizens registered in the country, or about 50% more than a month ago. 129 people were stopped at the border with Turkey and 461 – at the border with Serbia. 144 migrants were arrested inside the country. The number of migrants from Afghanistan has been rising and they are more than 60 percent of the total number of foreigners who entered the country illegally. Since the beginning of 2016, the number of detained migrants in Bulgaria has reached nearly 16,000 people.
