Bulgaria’s Armed Forces are preparing for a long-term mission at the border, Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Nikolay Nenchev said. Minister Nenchev added that up to 2,000 soldiers can be deployed to the Bulgarian border in several hours only. Overtime payment increased from EUR 150 to EUR 250, Nikolay Nenchev added. In his words, the  refugee wave towards Bulgaria has not increased. The cooperation between the Bulgarian Army, the Ministry of Interior and the Border Police is excellent, Minister Nenchev further said.  In Nikolay Nenchev’s view Bulgaria is among the few countries which scored biggest success in terms of border protection, taking into consideration the fact that Bulgaria is an external border of the EU and that over 3 million refugees beyond that border are searching for every opportunity to move west to Europe. We will seal the border, if necessary, but we will not allow illegal trafficking of migrants, Minister Nenchev categorically said.
