Bulgaria’s cabinet reports on EUR 1.7 billion budget surplus

Bulgaria’s cabinet has approved a report on the fulfillment of the state budget and the main indicators of the consolidated fiscal programme for the first nine months of 2016. The balance of the consolidated fiscal programme by September 2016 is positive to the tune of EUR 1.7 billion (3.8% of the estimated gross domestic product). The surplus in the state budget amounted to EUR 982 million. The surplus in the EU funds balance sheet is to the tune of EUR 713 million. The surplus in the consolidated fiscal programme in the period January-September 2015 was at EUR 319 million (0.7% of the country’s gross domestic product). Therefore, the budget position saw 3.1% improvement as compared to last year.
