Bulgaria’s capital Sofia is to host between November 29 and December 1 the International Congress on World Civilizations and Modern Tourism. The Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai said at the official opening that today the number of tourists amounts to nearly 1.2 billion, whereas their number after WW2 amounted to 25 million only. Nowadays, there is a strong deficit of tolerance and understanding and tourism gathers people together and makes the world a better and more interesting place, Mr Rifai further pointed out.
