Bulgaria’s migrant centers are overcrowded

The migrant accommodation centers with the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior were working at 34% beyond their capacity at the end of October, data of the Interior Ministry shows. The migrant centers of the State Agency for Refugees in the village of Banya, Harmanli and Sofia are overcrowded. Nearly 50% of all migrants accommodated at the Interior Ministry centers and at the migrant centers of the State Agency for Refugees are nationals of Afghanistan. Nearly 20% of the migrants are Syrian citizens and 20% of them are Iraqi nationals. A total of 784 illegally residing citizens of third countries were repatriated between January and October 2016.
