The minimum monthly salary in Bulgaria will be raised to EUR 235 on January 1, 2017, which is 9.5% more as compared to 2016. Thus, job seekers will be more motivated to join the labor market. The increase of the minimum wages is expected to reduce the poverty risk among employed Bulgarians. The minimum hourly rate will become EUR 1.42.
