In Bulgaria there are still problems with the implementation of EU environmental legislation, a report by the European Commission published on Monday shows.
According to the report, air pollution in urban areas, waste water treatment and preservation of protected areas are the main challenges for Bulgaria. Instead of recycling household waste, this country has one of the highest levels of depositing - 74% compared to 28 per cent EU average.
Air quality remains a major concern due to excessive concentration of fine particulates, the report points out.
