Moscow does not reject possibility of Bulgaria joining new Russian energy projects

A senior source from the Russian Foreign Ministry has told "Interfax" that currently Russia was not discussing restarting the "South Stream" gas pipeline project, but given the thaw in relations between Moscow and Sofia, the possibility of Bulgaria joining new Russian energy projects remains.

The "South Stream" project was stopped in December 2014 and replaced by the "Turkish Stream", which will connect Russia and Turkey under the Black Sea. It is expected that the new pipeline system will become operational by the end of 2019.
