President Radev: decision of Ministry of Environment to skip EIA of Pirin National Park management plan was hasty

The decision of the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water to skip an environmental impact assessment of the management plan of Pirin National Park was hasty, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev announced in the social networks. In that respect President Radev insisted that caretaker Premier Ognyan Gerdzhikov and caretaker Minister of Environment and Water Irina Kostova should find a responsible solution that guarantees public interest. President Radev did that several hours before the scheduled protest in Sofia in support of Pirin National Park. According to the organizers of the protest, the management plan of Pirin National Park would allow unacceptable construction and logging.
