Bulgaria’s printed media accentuate on Wednesday on President Radev’s first address to the nation. The main accent of President Radev’s speech fell on the foreign interference in Bulgaria’s internal affairs and the attempts of politicians from neighboring Turkey to agitate in favor of a given political party before and during the early Parliamentary elections held on March 26. Trud daily quotes President Radev who called on the political parties in Bulgaria “to initiate a debate and place barriers to the penetration of foreign influence in Bulgaria’s political life.” The newspaper accentuates on the following phrase of President Radev’s speech: “During the elections the political parties were calling for extreme measures, including closure of state borders. After the elections that topic was buried, but the problems remained. Those problems do not regard foreign interference in the election process only and will not be solved by spells only. They can be solved by legislative acts. Now it is the National Assembly’s turn to find a solution to those problems”. Standart daily accentuates on other parts of President Radev’s address to the nation. Rumen Radev said in his speech that a stable a well-functioning cabinet should be formed and that the authorities should undertake measures against poverty and corruption. “I hope that the National Assembly would form a stable and working government that will fulfill at least some of promises made during the election campaign. The Bulgarian people expect measures against poverty, corruption, injustice and crime”, Bulgaria’s head of state further says, Standard daily informs. Tsvetan Tsvetanov and Valeri Simeonov shared different views after President Radev’s speech, Dnevnik daily informs on its first pages. Valeri Simeonov who is one of the leaders of the United Patriots coalition, which is to participate at the future coalition cabinet with GERB, supported President Radev and reminded that neighboring Turkey has been interfering in Bulgaria’s internal policy. However, Deputy Chairman of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov said that his party was against President Radev’s attempts to require legislative initiatives. In his words, the President did not have such rights and specified that GERB would not support proposals related to restriction of the voting rights of the Bulgarians living abroad.
