Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister responsible for Justice Reform and Foreign Minister, Ekaterina Zaharieva, has met with Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurtz in Vienna. The two agreed that cooperation between the two countries on migration and border security within the European Union was excellent.

“Migration pressure on the Bulgarian border has decreased by 89 per cent compared to last year. We are fully ready to join Schengen and we are thankful for your government's support," Zaharieva said.

Bulgaria's integration into the Schengen area is an important condition for Bulgaria's full contribution to the common European security and will allow the Bulgarian authorities to fully address security threats at the EU's external borders, Minister Zaharieva added.
