Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov is to hold a meeting with Turkish President Recep Erdogan in Ankara today focusing on bilateral relations and the situation in the Balkans and in Europe.

The two are expected to devote particular attention to economic cooperation and more specifically, the project of a new gas interconnector between the two countries.

During his visit to Brussels last week Boyko Borissov stated that he would endeavour to help ease the tension that has arisen in the relations between the EU and Turkey. Within the frameworks of the one-year action plan aimed at restoring EU-Turkish relations, negotiations are opening in Brussels today on revising the 1995 customs agreement between the two sides.
