Guests of the 9th edition of the Bread Festival are to witness the selection of the first Bulgarian spelt sort-with black awns and ears, Bulgarian farmer Petko Angelov told Horizont channel of the Bulgarian National Radio. Mr Angelov is to register the first Bulgarian spelt sort together with the Institute of Plant Genetic Resources in Sadovo (Central South Bulgaria). In 2017 we are to select the necessary number of spelt ears, in order to start the registration procedure. The guests of the Bread Festival are to witness and take part at the revival of one of the most ancient types of spelt- spelt with black awns, Petko Angelov said. Petko is the initiator of the Spelt event held in the village of Rabovo in the Eastern Rhodopes. Mr Angelov and his wife use spelt to produce various types of dough products.
