The head of the National Bureau for Control of Special Intelligence Means, Boyko Rashkov, has confirmed that were cases of unauthorized use of special intelligence means against politicians, magistrates and journalists. When asked if this was done for the purposes of intimidation, pressure or blackmail, he answered positively. The comments came after the State Agency for National Security denied access to classified information to Deputy Chair of the Bureau, Georgi Gatev.
