A day before the visit of the French head of state to Bulgaria, French analyst Michel Lemeux commented on the possibility of voicing that Paris's support for Bulgaria's accession to Schengen and the Eurozone waiting room will be linked to Sofia's actions against unfair competition of Bulgarian workers in France.

I think that France, or rather France of Emmanuel Macron, wants to strengthen its relations and cooperation with Eastern Europe, and clear away issues that have been a subject of friction between France and some Eastern European countries,” Mr. Lemeux said in an interview for BNR’s journalist Angelina Piskova.

Earlier, the Reuters agency pointed out that the focus of the French president's visit to Bulgaria would be the elimination of the so-called social dumping from the poorer countries of the European Union.
