We Count Sparrows campaign reports 7000 birds, 50% of them in Sofia

Sofia is among the cities with the greatest biodiversity across Europe. There are 280 bird species registered in the Bulgarian capital, ornithologists have reported on the occasion of Bird Day, October 3. They have recalled the first bird count held in the spring of this year and organized by the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. Birds were observed in more than 580 counting points in more than 130 cities, towns and villages, and 38% of observations were held in Sofia. The campaign included 550 bird watchers who registered close to 7000 sparrows.
