Severe weather warning in 24 districts of Bulgaria

Severe weather warnings have been issued in 24 districts of the country. Orange level warnings for snow and ice are in place in five districts in Northern Bulgaria – Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Turnovo, Gabrovo and Lovech. Yellow level warnings for snow and rain have been issued in another 19 districts.

The Road Infrastructure Agency cautions drivers not to start on the road without winter tyres and without having adapted their vehicles to winter conditions. On the whole, roads in the country are passable in winter conditions. Standby teams are treating road surfaces in towns and villages. Due to the abundant snow in Sofia, the crisis centre for the homeless in Zaharna Fabrika residential area has now opened doors. It has a capacity of 170.
