On December 22 the Bulgarian Border Police marks its 130th anniversary. A wreath-laying ceremony was held in front of the monument to Bulgarian policemen who lost their lives in performance of their duties. Officers from several border checkpoints launched protests on this anniversary. The protesters claim that they haven’t received the promised payments. They demand a 15% wage increase and urgent amendments to the Ministry of the Interior Act, and insist that their wages must be linked with the average or the minimum monthly salary in Bulgaria.
