The Regional Directorate of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior in Sofia announced that it would take special security measures in line with the forthcoming New Year holidays. Ten teams of specially trained policemen will guard strategic sites in Bulgaria’s capital. Due to the recent terrorist acts in various European cities, the premises of the New Year Eve concert downtown Sofia will be surrounded by heavy machinery, so that the access of any passenger vehicles or trucks to the venue will be blocked. More police teams will be deployed to all migrant accommodation centers in the central part of the city. There will be also increased police presence in the Sofia underground.
