Hundreds of people gathered in front of the Council of Ministers in Sofia to protest against a new regulation that includes changes in the rules of work of capability assessment commissions.
The reason for dissatisfaction is "increasing limitation of opportunities for integration and leading a normal life." In a protest letter to the Bulgarian President, the President of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister and the National Ombudsman, organizations of people with disabilities call for removing the wording "defining capability" and the planned division of medical expertise and assessment of working capacity.
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov vowed that reforms did not aim to hurt the interests of persons with disabilities and that the state would use all available resources to put an end to embezzlement and corruption in the system.
