Representatives of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, and GERB met in parliament with representatives of people with disabilities, who demanded that the MPs display the political will to adopt a new law on persons with disabilities, in compliance with the UN convention, as well as a law on personal assistance.

“At the moment a medical commission determines what people with disabilities cannot do, not what they can do. How, then, can people like us find a job?” asked Kapka Yordanova, head of the Centre for Independent Living.

The representatives of GERB party promised to look into the proposals of the people with disabilities at an expert level within the space of 10 days.
