The government has submitted to Parliament a call for restart of the Belene Nuclear Power Plant project and for lifting the moratorium on the plant's construction.
Lifting of the moratorium on building the plant is necessary in order to start negotiations with the only company that has shown interest so far in the project- the Chinese National Nuclear Corporation. The condition of Bulgarian authorities is for the project to be implemented without state guarantees.
