The annual summit meetings between China and the Central and Eastern European countries "16+1" are useful to the EU as a whole, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva and dismissed concerns that Beijing wants to split the continent.

"The 16 + 1 cooperation and China-EU cooperation are not mutually exclusive.
